[mythtv-users] Re: Transcode issues at "excellent" quality setting

Thanks for the response. I am using transcode v0.6.12 which is what
apt-get installed for me. I have tried running the transcode command
directly in the terminal, but like I said, it looks like the first pass
command is executing properly as the twopass.log file is created. The
output is to /dev/null since it's the first pass. The mtd.log file
doesn't even include the second pass command, so I can't test that one
out. If I replace /dev/null with a real path, it produces an avi file
which is flipped vertically. I am assuming this is just a bug in the
first pass command that never got picked up on because, of course, the
output is discarded. So the question is, why isn't mtd trying to
perform the second pass?

I also got into the mythconverg database and checked out the
dvdtranscode table. Some interesting stuff there. It looks like it
should be relatively easy to change the bitrates for the different
settings. Also, I was thinking there might be a way to set up profiles
for both 16:9 and 2.35:1 content with different cropping values so as
to eliminate letterboxing on the latter. I thought I'd bounce this one
off you since I get the feeling you're the author of mythDVD transcode
daemon.

Thanks for your help,
Nick
