[mythtv-users] Supporting MythTV (or other Opensource) developers with cash besides selling mythtv boxes

In one thread we have been talking about selling mythtv boxes and support, 
with a percentage of the profits going back to the main developers.  I've got 
another idea...

What about affiliate programs?  Have the coordinator of the Mythtv project 
sign up with a few places (Amazon, overstock, etc)  to have an affiliate ID.  
Set up links to products and general links.  I know at one point Amazon was 
giving out like %5 for a commision and %15 if it was a direct link.  Now give 
out the ID to whomever so they can post it on their web site.

Depending on how the user base shops online, and how many other people use the 
links there could be a nice trickle coming in.  Not enough to retire on, but 
it takes no investment, people get something when they are helping, etc, 
etc...
