I have gone through quite a bit of tweaking to get my HD playback to an
acceptable point. Here is what I am currently using:
Hardware:
MB, ASUS A7V600
CPU, Athlon 3200+
Ram, 512MB PC3200
Video, MSI/Nvidia FX5600
Tuner, pcHDTV hd-2000
Drive, Maxtor 120GB ATA133
Audio, Echo Audio MONA
Screen, Toshiba 65HDX83 connected via Audio Authority 9A60
Software:
Gentoo distro
Kernel, 2.6.4-rc1 with Ulmo's pcHDTV patch ver. N applied.
Myth, current CVS with hdtv-signalcheck-v6.patch,
xvmc-playback-v2.patch, and hdtv-recorder-v6.patch patches applied. (see
http://www.mrl.nyu.edu/~danielk/mythtv/)
X server, XFree version 4.3.0-r3
ModeLine "960x540p" 37.26 960 976 1008 1104 540 542 548 563 +hsync
+vsync
DisplaySize 320 180
Nvidia driver 1.0-5336
ALSA 1.03
Myth settings:
Deinterlace on
Extra audio buffering on
XvMC on
Note: without XvMC enabled, I cannot stream HD without significant frame
skipping and audio interruption.
I am only having 2 small issues at this point.
1. OSD is a problem. It causes video and audio degradation on the fade
outs.
2. I am noticing a slight jerkiness on slow pans.
With the frame skipping controls enabled at their default settings,
playback is degraded significantly. I have not had the time yet to
experiment with these settings.
Thank you to the Myth developers and the people working on the HD stuff.
It's awesome!!
