how did you configure this.  In the mandrake "configure my computer" 
there is a section for setting up your video capture card.  Make sure 
you select the ATI TV Wonder form the list.  Also search google for the 
correct bttv settings of the VE.  It may detect default tv wonder but 
not the VE.
