For me, tick.. tick.. tick.. meant that the default OSS sound drivers
weren't good enough. I went to alsa and my tick'ing went away.

That's the sound of my audio on both front-ends.  So I'm expecting its a
problem with the backend.  But, the front-end that runs on the backend
sounds just fine.

Backend - MythTV 0.14 on Mandrake 9.2

Front-end 1 - Athalon 1900+ with 1gig ram.  Mandrake 9.2

Front-end 2 - Xbox 1.5, Xebian 1.0.1

I'm not sure what other information you might need.
