Have you tried using szap / scan, etc - the dvb tools? They would be
your best bet to check channels and get details, rather than using
mythtv itself.

I had the same error when using dvb-t in the UK. I noticed I miscounted
the number of digits when entering the details from "scan" output into
mythtv. It doesn't look to be the case for you. Have you tried googling
for another mention of the satellite (or your location) with respect to
DVB / linux? IIRC you need the frequency/polarity for scan to tune in
and then get all PIDs.
