Kinda wish the info on crux came out 2-3 days earlier... I just completed a Mythtv install on a fresh Vector Linux 4.0 system. I mostly compiled everything by hand, total / size is 800 Megs.

The convenience of a Debian-based distro is not to be dissmissed though--I tried a Mythtv install on Mepis and it was the easiest Myth install I have ever done. However, with my old machines I am aiming towards less resource-hungry distros. The Vector install uses 60 megs of RAM with fluxbox loaded. Even when Mythfrontend plays tv, there's RAM to spare (it uses just under 160 Megs).

At first glance the Crux ports system looks a bit unclear. But the distro looks very appealing--kernel 2.6 and X.org stuff, etc.
