[mythtv-users] transcoding of a record (3 Questions)

Hi,
i have got a 450MHz Celeron running dvb-t with a Nova-t(without Hardware 
encoder). And i can watch TV and use timeshift very fine and can not 
complain about the speed(only mythfilldatabase is very slow).
But i have three questions about transcoding the record.
1. How can i see without looking into the log that the backend is 
transcoding and how long will it take. Especially the second is very 
important because i want to know when i can switch of the computer.
2. Why does the transcoding waits so long. I have switch off the 
frontend and do nothing at the computer and it takes around 5 minuts 
till the backend start to transcode it. I have given the order in the 
frontend after editing it. And have no real aknoelmend from the program 
that he will do it or is doing it at the moment.
and 3. is it possible to cut the record without recode it. Because the 
DVB-T Stream has already a size which is okay for me. And i only want to 
clear out the advertisment, because my harddrive is not very big.
