Bad assumption. This is *much* more dependent on the TV set than on the
motherboard.

Quite possibly not. There were quite a few settings from other people's TVs I
tried that produced zero video output on my TV. I've heard from several folks
with 4:3 HDTVs that my mode didn't work for them, so I'm not surprised.

Yes, you should at least see something once you a feeding a signal it
understands. Did your 9A60 not come with cables? I could have sworn mine
did...

But is that VGA port configured for HD output, or just plain VGA output?

I think you need to do a bit more testing before going the RMA route. I have a
feeling you just haven't happened upon a mode that works. Note that I said
"The quick-and-dirty, might save you lots of time route", but it isn't
guaranteed to work with all sets by any stretch of the imagination. It has
for a number of other folks, but most (if not all) of them had 16:9 sets,
IIRC. Since that didn't work, you have to try another route, like search for
another mode, or go the PowerStrip route. You can't assume its bad because
that one mode didn't work.

I don't see much myself, and a basic VGA resolution never worked either. I see
some rolling text from the BIOS, a brief hint of grub, some rolling text as
the kernel starts to load, then rhgb kicks in and everything's peachy.
