Not entirely certain. I typically drop a DVD in and go to bed, and it does its
thing, straight from DVD to encoded file, no ripping the vobs off first like
I usually do with dvd::rip. My Mac is a dual 800MHz G4 w/1.5GB of RAM, and I
think it still takes at least 5 or 6 hours, but then I always use the highest
quality mpeg4 setting in forty-two. In contrast, with about the same quality
settings or higher, after ripping the vobs off with dvd::rip, my dual Athlon
MP 2000 w/2GB of RAM takes around 3 hours, IIRC.

I based everything off Red Hat's "Diskless Environments" chapter in the RHEL3
system administration guide, which you can find on their web site. However,
its missing a number of details pertaining to getting the system to boot, and
obviously doesn't touch on any of the tweaks you have to make for Myth to
work. I plan on commiting everything I've done to paper, one of these days...
