I'm not sure if the filter can be applied during transcoding.  Even if 
they could that wouldn't take live TV into account not to mention the 
fact that you'd have to wait for every recording to transcode before 
watching and then deleting it...

The grey scale OSD is due to the XvMC which is strictly video card 
related it has nothing to do with the capture card.
