If you want one remote, then don't go w/ the one that comes w/ the
pvr-x50 cards. They only understand the rc-5 ir protocol. I would
build your own ir transceiver. It should cost < $15 to do it. If you
searched the archives

instructions I've given numerious times on how to build the sender
portion, and this link has instructions on how to build the receiver
