FindOne is generally intended for single episode specials or movies
to choose any showing. Recurring record rules have this behavior and
so you can use a recurring type for series to have the same effect.
The problem with descriptions is that they may not match because
of "(Live)" vs "(Taped)" (note that this could come into play in
your example) or movies marked "(Dolby)" vs "(Stereo)". Since it
should be used for things that are all the same, looking at the
descriptive info is just asking for trouble.
I had considered using the duplicate matching methods after they
were added. Default to None but allow the other methods for
episodes of a series but this creates complications in the SQL.
A series grabs everything that matches the title then determines
which are dups. Here it would need to just include the things that
matched subtitle and/or description which would be new and different
for the sake of an unintended use. It would still suffer not
matching things that have slight variations like Live or Taped.
By the same token, it could possibly limit to one channel rather
than all channels but I don't think these complications are
necessary. Someone else may try it if they would find it useful.
However, there is a new possibility in 0.16...

Right but not so great for "Biography" which will have several
showings of several episodes and you just want a flexible record
for "Jimi Hendrix" and not the whole series. I know...

There will be another way you can go about this in 0.16...

For 0.15.1 you could set a channel record for "Formula One Grand
Prix of Canada". Mark the qualifying as "Never record". If the
qualifying descriptions match, you only need to do this once
otherwise you'd need to "Don't record" each qualifying round.
In 0.16 and current CVS, there are new search rules that gigem
is working on for matching keyword phrases by titles, keywords
(anywhere in title, subtitle, or description) or people (if your
grabber provides actor, director info but this is probably only
DataDirect so far). These search rules can be set to be kAllRecord
or kFindOneRecord. You could take that unique word or phrase that
is only in the race and enter it in Search Listing->Keywords and
click "Record" then choose to record one showing.
For example, I can enter "Jimi Hendrix" and see that it matches
two showing of Biography. Pressed "M", Tab, then clicked "Record"
and choose "Record one showing of this program". For me it found
that recording the second showing worked best.
