Something like this happened to me early this year when I was running 
FC1 and it turned out to be trying to capture at 480x480 on my PVR-250. 
  I think it's a bug with 0.1.9 ivtv or something.  If I used 720x480 or 
352x240 (or perhaps others too), it worked fine and that went away.
