Maybe you should attach your XF86Config. You probably have some setting
that limits the size of your desktop.

Subject: [mythtv-users] Cannot find a good HDTV Modeline

I have a Toshiba 57" tv with 1600 lines of resolution in the original 16:9
aspect ratio and a GeForce 4 MX for output. I'm looking for a high
resolution modeline for watching DVDs. Here are some of the problems I'm
having.

ModeLine "960x540p" 37.26 960 976 1008 1104 540 542 548 563 +hsync +vsync
ModeLine "888x508in540p" 37.26 888 944 1048 1104 508 534 548 563 +hsync
+vsync

For both of those the desktop panned up/down and to the sides in order to
fit the whole thing. Not sure if I'm saying that right. When the desktop
comes up, if I move the mouse to the right it pans the screen to the
right. If I move the mouse down it pans the screen down.

ModeLine "Cliff-1920x540p" 80.986 1920 2064 2256 2416 540 547 548 563
+hsync +vsync
ModeLine "PowerStrip-1440x540p" 60.101 1440 1568 1712 1792 540 542 553 563
+hsync +vsync
ModeLine "PowerStrip-1584x540p" 62.045 1584 1624 1672 1840 540 542 548 562
+hsync +vsync
ModeLine "PowerStrip-1800x540p" 77.289 1800 1944 2040 2288 540 547 548 563
+hsync +vsync
ModeLine "eMail-1-720x480" 28.6 720 744 768 900 480 484 492 525
ModeLine "eMail-1-888x500p" 37.26 888 964 996 1104 500 522 528 563 +hsync
+vsync
ModeLine "eMail-1-540p" 37.26 960 976 1008 1104 540 542 548 563 +hsync
+vsync
Modeline "email-1-1920x540" 81.562 1920 2056 2248 2400 540 549 554 569
-hsync +vsync

For all of these the width is about correct but it pans up and down.

Modeline "1080i" 79.84 1920 2040 2200 2368 1080 1090 1106 1125 +vsync
-hsync interlace

This one and a few other 1080i's are just a bit big on all edges, so I lose
part of the desktop. I'd also like to stay away from interlaced but for
now this is the best I can find.

I've been working on this for days now and have just about given up.. I've
been using powerstrip to test it but I'm not having any luck with any
suggestions for settings to get an optimum picture.

Thanks for any help,
Shay
