Agreed, if it works don't fix it.  I have applied the kraxel patches on 
2.6.7.  It didn't affect the ivtv drivers (they worked ok), but the 
pcHDTV drivers took some work to get merged (especially in tuner.c).  
The other addition in the kraxel 2.6.7 patches is more support for ATSC 
which is why I decided to try them.  This will also require a patch to 
videodev2_myth.h.  It's a bit of work, but if you are the experimenting 
type you can take a look at some info I posted on the list a few days 
ago.  If you want a working system without a lot of effort, it may be 
better to skip the kraxel patches for now.  From the kernel logs it 
looks like the 2.6.7 patches will be in 2.6.8 when it is released.  They 
have been included in the post 2.6.7 releases for about a month now.
