Or, likely more accurately, you finally get OLN. They have had
in-depth live(?) coverage of the Tour for years. Last year they
also had daily coverage of The Running of the Bulls but nothing
this year :-(.

The distinction is when the recording ends while you are still
watching.

The player gets seek position information from a seek table
appended to the end of the file (or from the database) for pre-
recorded shows. It has to get seek position info from the recorder
while a recording is in progress so that it can get new info as
it is recorded.

The problem is that if you watch a recording in progress then
the encoder finishes and exists, the player doesn't know to switch
to finding seek info as it would for pre-recorded. It falls back
to reading forward through the file until it finds the desired
frame. This is slow.

It has come up many times but it's hard to know what keywords
to search for.

ESC, "Save this position and go to the menu", play. When you
restart playback after the recording finished, it will have
all the seek info it needs for the whole file.
