[mythtv-users] only root can pause live tv

That's the first thing I checked (even though live TV playback works
fine other than the pause thing.)  It is "-rwxrwxr-x mythtv mythtv".

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

  chown mythtv:mythtv /some/directory

will accomplish both in one command.
