If 50% duty cycle causes you to overheat then you need to either add more
processor heatsink or slow the processor down a bit. Adding heatsink is
always a good idea. Mythtv will use 100% duty cycle at times (Commerical
detection comes to mind) so you need to be able to run reliably at high duty
cycle before you can even think about your other issues.
