Jeff,

I'm using the 'Simple IR transmitter' (Resistor, diode, IR led) off a
serial port to control my Expressvu receiver.  Depending on your
receiver, certain things need to be tweaked, but it's all working
great here.  As mentioned below, there are methods to configure a
seperate 'lirc' installation to control your blaster, while still
running the stock version for your PVR 250/350's built in
receiver/remote (or other device).
