client (any mail client, AFAIK :-)

Since you've made the comment though, I will endeavour to bottom post in

And I suppose top-posting is company standard as well? :-)

I have yet to encounter a corporate environment where I wasn't able to
install, configure & use my own mail client and browser if I wanted to.

Heck, unless you have absolutely *no* write access, you can always
install some Mozilla variant, and it will work with the same proxy &
mail configuration that Outlook uses. AFAIK most of the Mozilla
software installs into a single directory (i.e., no system DLLs are
changed), so you don't need admin privileges on NT/2000/XP and
uninstalling is as simple as deleting the directory if you're in a
hurry.

That said, I'm sure there are cases where it's just not doable, but
those cases, in my experience, are far fewer than most people think.

IMHO, Outlook 2003 is a nice mail client. IE is still crap, but it's
not worth it to me to change to something else, since it works for
almost everything I want to do and he rest I can live with. I'm not a
Microsoft hater, unlike some people, for a variety of reasons that are
not relevant to this list, but I think they've started to release some
decent client software in the last few years (Media Center Edition is
*not* one of them). I also think they've release some really good
server software too recently (I'm not talking about W2K3, though I think
it's pretty nice).

Just my thoughts, putting on flame-retardant thick skin now...

Paul

PS. I realize that I often post OT for this list - I'm trying to ask
relevant questions, but there's just so much stuff I feel compelled to
comment on - too many opinionated users, I guess (including me).
