[mythtv-users] mythvideo fails to start mplayer

none of those suggestions apply.

I am starting mythfrontend without the & so that when
I exit it Xwindows also will exit.

i do not use KDE as that added bloat is not needed on
a stand alone box that is only to ever run mythtv.
I actually use ratpoison as a windows manager as it's
light and forces all apps to run fulscreen with focus.
but most other window managers also cause this
problem, twm,ahwm and even using no wm... exactly the
same behaivoir.

my .xinitrc consists only of one line....
