[mythtv-users] One or the other

I'm so close to getting my setup done that it hurts...there are only a
few things left standing in my way.
 
1)       I finally got my tv-out working on the Hauppauge PVR350...the
only problem is that when I select "use tvout on pvr350" from the
mythfrontend setup it will pipe information out only to the tv-out and
not to the console front-end...the console front goes black.
2)       My lirc daemon fails to initialize on startup if I login as
"mythtv" (my mythtv user)....I have to su to "root" and then manually
start the service or it won't work on the mythtv frontend.  I have run
the /usr/bin/iaw test and that works fine so I guess the daemon is
starting but there's just something not being done to allow the "mythtv"
user to use it on the mythfrontend.
3)       When I do have the tv-out working I can't seem to get the OSD
to work over the video out.  I can get the channel display
working...that is if I use the channel up or down buttons on my remote
to change the channel then I get the program description at the bottom
and the channel number at the top but if I hit the "menu" button the
screen darkens a bit but the menu does not appear.
 
Can anybody point me in the right direction here?
