Hi Everyone,

My MythTV installation is about 24 hours old now, and I must say, it is
quite impressive. Kudos all around. I was using Freevo, and it just
didn't pass the "wife test". This one does!

My use of MythTV is mainly for playing disk-based music, but I have to
say that I appreciate having available Weather, DVD, Videos and all the
rest.

Now, a little about me. I live on a compound in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. We
have our own TV system here, which provides English-language programming
for our mostly American and English residents. TV signal format is both
SECAM and PAL, so everyone has multi-standard TV sets.

I've searched and searched for a tuner card that does multi-format.
Obviously, I'd love to use the Hauppauge PVR-350, but after research I'm
led to believe that the cards are one format or the other, depending on
where they are purchased. Sigh.

So, has anyone found a MythTV compatable tuner card that does
PAL/SECAM/NTSC? When I return to the states, I don't want to have to
throw my tuner card away, if I can avoid it! I'm off to the States next
week, and I'd love to order one now that I can pick up while I'm there.

Until then, MythTV is my music player/ripper, and a darned good one at
that. I'm hoping to get DVD ripping going today. Unfortunately, as I
don't have a /dev/video, my mythbackend fails when it tries to start.
This isn't a serious problem except when I go to exit MythTV, I get an
error message about the backend not be being available. Anyone know how
I can get mythbackend to start without a /dev/video, or just a way for
the error message to not come up?

Thanks again to everyone for development of this great tool. My wife
approves.
