After lots of patching (what seemed to me to be a huge
effort), I was able to get my pcHDTV card to play
nicely with my Hauppauge PVR-250 card. I still need
to work on getting the channel changing to work on the
pcHDTV card, but it's only a matter of finding the
time to read through the posts to figure out how to do
this (others have succeeded). Although I still don't
have everything perfect, I expect it's only the lack
of monkey time on my part, that I have not completed
my system.

Here's the info you asked for:
- Gentoo Linux 2.4.22-ac Sources with the V4L2 patches
and the videodev patch (19 and 20) from the
bytesex.org website.
- .7 bttv driver, with the patch made available on the
pchdtv website
- ivtv compiled with the kernel's patched videodev2.h

IMHO, the instructions for getting everything working
still has a long way to go. I thought I would try to
help the effort, so I kept meticulous step-by-step
notes on how I completed the patching. Unfortunately,
I had to restart so many different things, I’m not
sure my notes, as they are now, would be of help to
anyone. (Someday, after LOTS of editing, I’ll post my
notes).

Maybe it's my fault for being a Linux newbie and
choosing Mythtv to be my first project. Adding to my
problems, I choose Gentoo as my distro, so I had a
whole different learning curve.

My system:
Asus A7N8X-Deluxe Mobo, AMD 2800+ CPU, 512MB RAM,
Nvidia GeForce FX5600 Graphics Card, 40 GB Dual boot
(XP/Linux) Hard drive, 320 GB raid 0 data hard drive.
