[mythtv-users] Feature Request: Disk spin-up and idle timeout

My ReplayTV does this and I think it would help my Myth box. Prior to
recording a scheduled program or when entering the TV menu, I would like to
see it spin up my hard disk that the recordings are stored on. Right now my
disk sleeps when not in use as is fairly normal but when I go to watch TV or
the system starts recording, the wakeup causes problems for the beginning of
the program (dropped frames, audio desync, etc). Something like 1 minute
prior to recording or upon entering the TV menu.

On a somewhat related note, I thought it also might be nice to have a simple
timeout in the menu handler that if nothing is done for a specified period
of time, it returns to the main menu with the first option highlighted.
That way if you leave your MythTV box in a sub-menu, when you come back it
will be in "ready" position so that other people can use it without having
to figure out what's going on.

Thanks,
Kevin
