I personally like the Tivo remote.

What I like about it:
+ I'm already familiar with it as I've had a Tivo for a while
+ It has keys for most major MythTV functions
+ Can purchase additional remotes if I want multiple remotes
+ Can be programmed to turn on/off my TV (as well as vol and mute but
those are fairly useless with Myth)
+ Can be used obviously with my Tivo as well as with MythTV
+ Seems to have decent range.....I can use it without pointing it in the
appropriate direction
+ Has specially shaped buttons to ease in tactile key recognition in
darkness
+ Pause button is large and round and in center...this is the key I use
most, so works well.

What I would change about the Tivo remote if I could:
+ Give it the ability to learn (other than the basic learn of TV power.
vol, and mute) so I could use it with other AV equipment
+ Make buttons illuminated to ease its use in darkness
+ Provide a few more keys to provide better coverage of the variety of
MythTV Functions
+ Make it JP-1 compatible so I could program it with a PC
+ Make it work with the hauppauge ir receiver that comes with the very
popular PVR-350 so I wouldn't need to buy/make an IR receiver
+ Perhaps make it RF vs. IR so that it work like a ATI Wonder Remote II

I use the Snapstream ($40) IR Receiver and love it because:
+ USB makes it easy-breezy to attach
+ Has a good range (or is that the remote?)
+ Is reasonably priced (I don't want to build my own)
+ Works with my Tivo remote (and many others I imagine)
+ Is shaped so that it can be placed atop my monitor or TV

I'd love it if:
+ it didn't require applying a diff patch to CVS LIRC (not supported
without this)
While this wasn't difficult, it was a few added steps to my setup.
