I had the same problem. Do this:
/sbin/modprobe lirc_dev
if that goes ok, then:
/sbin/modprobe ivtv

If something dies there, post back, OR use our new IRC channel for support
at irc.freenode.net, channel #mythtv-users

	Ok,

I have been setting up a mythbox, using Jarod's exellent guide. I
have everything working but the live tv! I have a PVR-350. I am not using
the TV-out, I am using my Asus Pundit's svideo out. I have been unable to
get the 350 to show anything expect a plain black screen when I cat
/dev/video0 to a .mpg file. The only difference I ever got was when I
unhooked the cable it went from black to snow. I have tried all the input
numbers from the test_ioctl command.

In my frustration, I decided maybe I should update IVTV. I did an
apt-get install ivtv and now its really fuxored. A /sbin/modprobe ivtv
says:
	modprobe: Can't locate module ivtv

and now if I try to cat or mplayer the /dev/video0 it says:
	Playing /dev/video0.
	File not found: '/dev/video0'
	Failed to open /dev/video0

	I am a complete linux n00b, but not a pc n00b. Any suggestions? I
have been searching the IVTV lists, and they tend to be a little more
'developer' than I can use.

	Thanks
