You only need to move it (.lircrc) temporarily, until you have one unified .lircrc for all your applications.

It doesn't wipe the file every time you run xine, just when you tell it to create an empty one for you.  I'll post mine, when I can get to it.  Based on the hauppauge grey thing, with settings for mplayer and xine but not Myth.  Myth uses one of its own.

But if that is so, then how can I use both mythfrontend and xine 
together with the remote if it wipes over your .lircrc everytime?
