I suspect you're having this problem because you're using TwinView or  
Xinerama.  There's no way to detect individual screens' aspect ratios  
for Xinerama.  Get rid of it, or submit patches to allow you to set the  
aspect ratio of your Xinerama output devices as a user preference.   
Non-Xinerama dual head (with displays :0.0 and :0.1) should work fine.
