Hi Jason,

I downloaded kernel-2.6.1 source and copied the alsa 1.0.1 alsa-kernel
source into the kernel tree, as per here: (part 2)
http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php?page=AlsaBuild2.6

In the kernel, I selected to build in Sound Support, ALSA and my
intel8x0 device (I'm using on-board sound on an Abit IS7).

dmesg gives me:
<snip>
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.1.
PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1f.5 to 64
intel8x0: clocking to 48000
ALSA device list:
  #0: Intel ICH5 at 0xfa101000, irq 17
</snip>

But I have no devices in /dev/sound, no /dev/dsp or /dev/adsp.

Any ideas what I left out?

Thanks, Paul
