I set my system up to simply email me logwatch and crontab reports, so 
I get a daily email showing the results of mythfilldatabase, important 
log events, etc. All I did was tell the system to route all mail for 
root and my mythtv user to my email account (can be done either in your 
mail daemon's aliases facility or with .forward files). Not elegant, 
but it does the job.
