Because Myth streams a lot of data around, the kernel tries (and fails) to 
be smart and cache the data at the expense of other data in memory.  I 
think someone was doing some work on locking Myth into memory to help with 
it.  Myth supports the O_STREAMING kernel patch, so you can apply that to 
your kernel and make sure O_STREAMING is correctly defined in your glibc 
headers when compiling Myth and that will help a bit.  See the info about

Of course, faster CPUs mean more heat, which depending on the type of case 
you have may not be an option.
