I don't have a Pundit, but FYI I get X using 15% of my Athlon XP 1900+ 
when I'm playing videos in Myth (S3 Prosavage VGA card).  When I asked 
around, this seemed about consistent with what people were seeing with 
nVidia MX-440 VGA cards too.  I'd love to know the secret for getting the 
CPU usage down though - I don't really see any reason why X needs to use 
so much since with XV all the processor heavy stuff like colourspace 
conversion and scaling are handled in hardware.  (And aren't I right in 
thinking that with XV the data is stuffed into shared memory by the 
application anyway so X doesn't need to shuffle memory around?)
