Any recent Linux offering from Red Hat enables DMA when its known to be safe.
If a particular chipset and drive combination has known issues, they favor
stability over performance, and disable DMA. However, you can override the
audo-detected settings and be just fine in most cases. Oh, and every recent
motherboard I've used lately with a Red Hat offering has set DMA on by
default, so I believe it is generally more of an issue for older
chipsets/boards.
