[mythtv-users] how to select binary radio button?

There are some setup screens with binary selections like 
"Automatically transcode after recording".  There doesn't seem to be any
way to turn one of these off or on.  If I hit the spacebar, I get sent
to the next screen as if I'd hit the return key.  I tried all the
letters from a-z and numbers but to no avail.  

Is the option simply forced on?  What key turns it on/off?
