[mythtv-users] (OT) nvidia SVideo tv-out (NTSC), and XF86Config Modelines

Hello, all;

I'm trying to sort out what config would result in the best-looking output on
my S-Video analog TV (can't yet convice the household bookie to let me bring
home an HDTV...).  I've sort of thought about trying out a VGA->S-Video scan
converter, but I'm not sure what quality improvement they would offer over my
mobo's built-in TV-out.  (Incidentally a MSI K7N2G-ILSR mobo, with onboard
Geforce4-MX.)

I guess my first question is, what's generally a better resolution for ntsc CRT
TVs -- 640x480, or 800x600.  From what I can tell, I get less flicker if I
stick with 640x480, but I can't be sure if that's because I'm using less-than
optimum modelines or not.

Which leads me to my 2nd question.  In peoples' experience, are there modelines
out there for NTSC analog TVs which are superior to the built-ins that the
nvidia driver selects?  If so, can anyone suggest a modeline or two that I
could try out to see how they look?  If it makes any difference, I'm using a
Panasonic 29" gaao TV...
