How 'bout simply booting a Knoppix CD, letting the tools to their job to 
create the ideal XF86Config, then simply copy it to your Fedora install? That 
way, you're getting a config that matches up directly with your hardware 
(though his may work just as well). So far as I know, that should do the job, 
unless there is something about DVI on the Matrox cards that requires a 
kernel feature not in the Fedora kernels...
