[mythtv-users] Can MythMusic use iTunes mp3s??

I don't think that iTunes uses mp3.
I'm 90% sure they use a different format
called AAC (Advanced Audio Codec) aka .mp4
which offers much better quality for roughly
the same file size. They also have DRM
protection in them(when you download from iTMS)
and I am pretty sure they will not play on
anything but the PC authorized to play them,
a CD you burned through iTunes, or through an
iPod.

Subject: [mythtv-users] Can MythMusic use iTunes mp3s??

Subject line kind of says it all. I've got a working MythTV setup (CVS
from
Saturday 2/7) and I'm wondering whether I can use MythMusic to access my
iTunes mp3s. To test, I mounted my iMac's iTunes folder via NFS at /mnt
on
my myth box. When I point MythMusic at this directory and 'Scan for New
Music' I get lots of network activity but nothing seems to happen (i.e.
I
killed it after an hour 'cause it was still going). Can MythMusic use
my
iTunes setup?? Or am I wasting my (and the list's) time?

Thanks for any help...

Steve
