[mythtv-users] MythTV performance optimisation - live TV watching?

Good evening

I am trying to build a MythTV box from the PC of the resonable (IMHO)
spec - Athlon processor 1060Mhz, 256 Mb RAM, VIA 266A chipset
motherboard, two Seagate barracuda HDDs. The only week point I would
think of is the video card - it's one of those old PCI ATI
all-in-wonder ones (not even sure about which exactly model) with 8 Mb
of memory. I am not using it as a TV-tuner, it's used as a video card
with TV-out (I have not got to the point of trying TV-out yet). It's
seems to be good enough for watching DVDs, DivXs and others. My WinTV
card works fine with xawtv and tvtime, and it seems to work fine with
MythTV when recording shows.

The problem: live TV is not completely in sync with the sound and it's
loosing frames. Watching the show pre-recorded is fine. The problem is
there while using both GATOS and standard XWindow ATI drivers,
although with GATOS ones it seems to be a bit better (I am not sure if
this is the case).

At first I thought it's HDDs, but the indicator on the front pannel
does not seem to show to much activity. Processor seems to be fast
enough, besides I've read people reporting even weeker then mine
hardware working with MythTV fine. What can be my problem?

I am using 0.14 release (updated KnoppMyth - debian unstable).

Thanks for any help in advance
Andrey
