[mythtv-users] xawtv works fine, but mythtv-0.14 doesn't

I got xawtv running, as recommended from a particular HOWTO. However, when I 
try to watch live TV, the screen goes blank for a few seconds, and then 
returns to the prompts. I got the following output:

I downloaded myth-0.14 source code, and built it without DVB support, LIRC 
support, and with debug mode instead of release mode. The kernel I am running 
is a knoppix-delivered 2.4.22, with no customized changes. My capture card is 
a VS-TV878PRO (card=78, tuner=2).

Any help out there?
