Not exactly. You need to use some v4l2 headers. You can install the
ivtv drivers without using v4l2, if you copy the videodev2.h file
included with ivtv tarball to the right place. You do of course need at
least v4l, which is certainly in SuSE's kernels.

I've run ivtv just fine on 2.4.20 series kernels in the past. It should
work with SuSE 8.2's stock kernels.
