I subscribed to the diywelder list since it's inception. It was an active
mail list that solved a lot of problems. the list owner converted it to
forum with an email gateway 6 months ago. The list traffic has dropped to
almost nothing. I posted a question there a week ago, and so far ZERO
responses. In my experience, forums kill mailing lists. I like the myth
list. My server downloads my emails every 5 minutes. They are always stored
locally. I use IMAP to access them from anywhere on my network. Not
terribly practical if you are on dialup, but when I had dialup a year and a
half ago, I dialed up every hour and downloaded messages. The myth list
works well the way it is. I don't see anyone changing it.
