[mythtv-users] can't record live tv

I sent an early plea for help, but got no responses, so I'm trying again.

If I'm watching TV and press the record button on the remote, the screen 
goes blank and never comes back.  It seems to go into an infinite loop.

...Those two lines then repeat for a long time...after about 7 minute it 
seems to give up, but I usually restart by then.

A healthy system seems to log "Getting next free recorder: -1", so the 
"1" seems troublesome.  I've basically rebuilt the system from scratch 
after I started getting this problem, but it persists.

I'm running on an EPIA M12000 w/PVR350.
Gentoo 2.6.7 & ivtv-0.1.10-pre2-ck104r

These bits were working fine until I started playing around with 
different patches to mythtv...then a variety of problems started, so I 
backed those changes out, rebuilt and reinstalled myth, found I had this 
problem, dropped the database and rebuilt it from scratch, but the 
problem persists.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
