Nobody is using their wife to "represent" somebody who is technically
illiterate.  *If* that's what was actually happening, I would agree with
you.  The fact is however, somebody is saying that another non-geek
person is having difficulty with the interface, they may be specifying
their wife, but so what?  It could just as easily be "my room mate Dan
can't figure out how to ...".  Is that biased against room mates?  Am I
implying all room mates are morons?

Now, yes, "the wife" is mentioned quite frequently on the list, that's
not because we are being sexist.  It's because we have wives, and they
use MythTV too.
