MythTV has QT-Embedded/DirectFB support if you build it yourself from CVS
which doesn't require X at all.  I'm not sure how stable it is as I don't
use it but you might want to look at it.  I think there is a guide linked
around somewhere.  Try searching the archives for DirectFB.
