[mythtv-users] irgap not found with pvr-350 remote

Hi!

I recently set up my myth box again (got a headcrash on my hard disk. This
time I'll make a full backup, I swear!). I also have a pvr-350, but I'm
using gentoo instead. So far my lirc is not configured yet, but it is
basically working.

Even with a PVR-350 you need bttv. I'm not sure how this stuff really works,
but I guess the bttv is some kind of basic driver for the tuner stuff and
ivtv is using it somehow. On my system the bttv module is loading without
problems. I had a similar problem in the past, but I think it was related
with an improper kernel/module compilation. What kernel are you using?

BTW: Using irrecord to test if the IR is actually working is indeed the best
way to do so. The missing gap error is kind of a general error. It just
shows that the IR is not working at all.

I'm currently using kernel 2.4.26, plain ivtv 0.9 without patches (not the
gentoo ebuild) and lirc 0.7.0 pre4.

I was not successful in using kernel 2.6.x. ivtv has no real support for it
yet. I tried the kraxel-patches-ivtv-1.x patches, but they seem to have a
bug for PAL setup, because they were muting my PVR after every channel
switch.

Ciao,

Andreas
