[mythtv-users] How can I get good picture through Xv

I'm not sure, but your problem sounds something like
what's described on the ivtv mailing list here (see
the follow-ups too):

The only thing is that you would expect the lines to
show up when viewing through mplayer as well if it
were an ivtv problem, so this probably doesn't help
much.  I just figured I'd throw it out there just in
case.

By the way, the solution mentioned in the thread above
doesn't work 100% of the time for me, and I usually
just end up rebooting.
