[mythtv-users] HDTV resolution question

Does anyone know why the 960x540p or 1920x540p modes have all  of the 
graphics squeezed together on my tv? the Icons and windows are all 
taller than wide. I have the 856x480 mode working ok with the graphics 
looking normal but really want to get 1080i. I can't put my finger on it 
because 856x480 and 1920x1080 both have the same aspect ratio of 1.77.  
The video playback is also a tall rectangle when playing 4:3 shows back. 
I was able to tweak this some by adding the Displaysize option to the 
XF86Config file but the graphics and X interface are still not 
proportional.

Does anyone have 1080i working on a Hitachi 16:9 53SX tv?
