SVIDEO can transport composite also, so you have probably got the wrong
SVIDEO input selected.  I can't remember which you  need for a 250 but
I'm sure you'll find it with experimentation in the mythtvsetup
program.  If you choose the wrong setting from whatever is being input
you'll always find that the signal is B&W rather than colour.

Note that TVs can't tell the difference (or at least all the ones I've
ever used) between composite and SVIDEO which is why you need to select
appropriately on SCART inputs!
